In Ballwin and Ellisville, we have two contested elections that will highlight our ballots in the April 2 election. A heated race is on for three Ellisville council seats, amid a controversial mayor impeachment process and after recall attempts from residents to oust council members who had voted in favor of a Walmart TIF project. Ballwin has one contested seat on the ballot for the Board of Aldermen, the rest (including the mayor's spot) with incumbent candidates or uncontested. As we approach the election, Patch will send each candidate a questionnaire to help empower voters to cast their ballots for the candidates they believe in. Following is the ballot language voters will see on April 2 about the Rockwood School District's need for finances. The amount increased since last Thursday, from $36.6 million.
Rockwood School District's Board of Eduction directors approved a resolution to place a no-tax increase bond onto the April 2 ballot at Thursday's board meeting. The St. Louis County Board of Election deadline for all spring ballot issues is 5 p.m. on Jan. 22. Prior to the meeting, the suggested amount to place on the ballot was $36.6 million, which was consistent with recommendations from the recent Picture Rockwood process and the amount discussed at last Thursday's board meeting. Seats on the Ballwin board of aldermen, Ellisville city council, West County EMS and Fire Board and the area school boards are all up for election along with Ballwin mayor.
The race is on for municipal, fire protection district and school board candidates in local elections to be held April 2, 2013. The official filing period began Dec. 11 and will run until Jan. 15, 2013. Patch has a list of all those who have filed so far in the elections that will impact Ballwin and Ellisville residents.
