Marquette Hockey Stumbles in Postseason Opener
The No. 13-seeded Oakville Tigers beat Marquette, 3-1, in Game 1 of their first round matchup in the Challenge Cup.
As the No. 13 seed in the Mid States Club Hockey Association's Challenge Cup tournament, the Oakville Tigers knew that they needed to strike first against the No. 4-seeded Marquette Mustangs on Friday evening. The Tigers (12-8-2) did just that as Oakville defeated Marquette, 3-1, in Game 1 of their first round matchup of the Challenge Cup tournament. The loss for Marquette (16-3-3) ended a four-game unbeaten streak for the Mustangs in which they posted a 4-4 tie against Oakville on Jan. 24.
