Diners can get a traditional Irish meal this weekend, with a side offering of various barbecue sauces.
While Charlotte's Rib BBQ obviously is known for its barbecue sauce and meats, its diners can step into the St. Patrick's Day spirits this weekend through a special plate the restaurant's staff is offering: corned beef and cabbage, soda bread, boiled potatoes and green beans for $8.99. This Irish plate will be available day and evening Friday through Sunday. Charlotte's staffers told Patch they also will have the makings for Reuben sandwiches, along with their typical barbecue-based menu. It's hard to go wrong with barbeque, but it can be in a class of its own when its done right. To get the verdict on what's happening with the art of grilling in Ballwin and Ellisville, the Restaruant Review Round-Up is lifting the lid on Charlotte's Rib BBQ this week. Originally established in Kirkwood in 1978, they packed up shop a year later and opened in Ballwin in 1979. The family-owned restaurant's co-founder, Herb Schwartz, won the grand prize at the American Royal Barbeque Cook-Off in 1981 for his expertly smoked pork and trademark sauce, according to the company's website. My husband and I absolutely love Charlotte's Rib! Let's face it, a lot of BBQ places have good meat items (or they wouldn't be in business), but most lack good side dishes. On the contrary for Charlotte's Rib ... their side dishes are every bit as delicious and complement whatever meat choice you make.
