Can "Liking" A Company on Facebook Help Your Job Search?

Starbucks, which has a handful of locations in the Ballwin and Ellisville area, is pioneering a new way to attract employees.

Starbucks is planning to expand and open 1,300 new stores next year, but if you'd like to get a job with the coffee giant, first log on to Facebook.  The national chain has unveiled a new system called Branch Out that will let potential applicants search for jobs using their social networks, according to a report in the St. Louis Business Journal. The system takes the form of an app on the Starbucks Facebook page that lets users browse open positions by location, but it's also a promotional effort with videos about what it's like to work at Starbucks and links to info about the company's benefits.  The journal cites a Seattle-based tech blog from one of its sister publications called TechFlash, which talked to Sara Parker, a member of …

How to Reverse Facebook's Attempt to Change Your Email Address

Facebook changed your email address on your profile. We'll help you change it back.

Facebook changed your profile without telling you.  In 2010, Facebook gave all its users an "@facebook.com" email address. Some people used it, most people didn't, but it was always there if you wanted it. Until now. Sometime this month, Facebook changed everyone's default emails to their @facebook.com accounts. Your personal and work email accounts are still in the system, but only the Facebook account is listed. If you are like most of us and never use your Facebook email account, you'll want to add your regular email addresses to your account's profile page.
