Ballwin City Council appoints local firefighter-paramedic to fill vacancy following a cryptic resignation
A new alderman was appointed to the Ballwin City Council this week after former Alderman Frank Schmer abandoned the position for unclear reasons. Schmer assumed the post in spring of 2009, and officially submitted a letter of resignation to City Administrator Bob Kuntz late last month. In it, he said the decision to resign followed weeks of deliberation. "As you know, the disconnect of information between the city and the Board has frustrated me from the beginning," Schmer wrote. "I am not sure I have the ability to adequately ignore or process the 'system' the way many of the more experienced aldermen have become accustomed."
