With the giving of gift cards ramping up for the holidays, the Missouri Treasurer's Office reminded residents that they never actually expire.
If you're like many Missourians, you probably can expect to receive a gift card or two for Christmas this year, perhaps to one of your favorite stores or just an-all purpose pre-loaded debit card. If you're also like many Missourians, you probably have some of these cards leftover from last year, ones that were never used and are now expired. However, those out-of-date card might just turn out to be an unexpected holiday gift. That's because gift cards and certificates never actually expire in Missouri and may end up labelled as unclaimed property by the Missouri Treasurer's office. Walk through the annual holiday light extravaganza before it opens to cars.
The 27th annual St. Louis County Parks Winter Wonderland in Tilles Park opens to the public Wednesday, Nov. 21, but patrons can experience the fun a week early at the Winter Wonderwalk. Patrons can stroll through the park to view the million-plus holiday lights on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17-18. Winter Wonderwalk is $5 per person and strollers, wagons and dogs on a 6-foot leash are welcome. The walkthroughs will be held at the following times both nights: Advanced registration is required. Walmart announced a Thanksgiving Day start to its sales. Target, Toys R Us, and Best Buy aren't far behind.
Serious shoppers know Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is the day for bargains. Retailers are opening earlier than ever this year with sales to entice holiday shoppers. Walmart has set the bar at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for 2012 sales to start. Will other stores follow? Macy’s, Target and Toys R Us are among a growing number of shops kicking off Black Friday sales at midnight, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. Area mall doors will open at various times, though some of their stores may or may not be open then. Many sales haven't been announced yet.
