TRAFFIC ALERT: Manchester Road Water Main Work Begins Monday

Missouri American Water said the two-mile water main replacement project will take place along Manchester Road, between Henry Avenue and Old Ballwin Road.

As previously reported by Patch, there have been numerous recent water main breaks along Manchester Road that have impacted traffic and water service for nearby businesses and residents. (Read Previous Story: Unusual Batch of Water Main Breaks Along Manchester Road Baffle Officials) Missouri American Water previously told Patch the breaks were likely due to the age of the water pipes, some of which are more than 70 years old. Monday, drivers should expect to see crews along Manchester Road, between Henry Avenue and Old Ballwin Road, as a two-mile stretch of water main replacement brings. Teen Driver Suffers Significant Injuries in Accident on Manchester Road

The two-vehicle accident also injured two others and blocked several lanes of traffic on Tuesday morning.

A two-vehicle crash on Manchester Road in Ellisville Tuesday morning injured three people and blocked several lanes of traffic for much of the morning. Police said the accident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. when a Jeep heading east on Manchester Road hit a Mazda crossing onto the westbound lane from East Meadow Lane, police said.  Ellisville Police Sgt. Nancy Walker said it was possible that the driver of the Mazda had her view obstructed and was unable to see the oncoming traffic when she made the turn.  The names of the victim's were not released, but police said the Mazda was being driven by a 17-year-old female from Ballwin, who suffered significant injury. Girls are doing well. Passenger had concussion and was released from hospital Thursday. Driver got out of intensive care Sunday and will go to rehab. Driver has spleen removed, cracked ribs & pelvis. Bruised lung. Head trauma but is speaking and recognizes family members. Luckily both we're wearing seat belts.   more ›

Traffic Alert: Lanes Closing on I-270 Next Week

Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis work zones for March 14 - 20.

Up to two lanes will be closed on southbound Interstate 270 overnight Monday through Wednesday between Manchester Road and I-44 as part of a widening project. Overnight closures of various ramps and lanes will occur on the Poplar Street Bridge in downtown St. Louis Sunday through Wednesday evening. Two entrance ramps to I-70 from Mid Rivers Mall Drive will close beginning Monday, March 18, weather permitting. The loop ramp from northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive to westbound I-70, and the loop ramp from southbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive to eastbound I-70 will close. Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

Special Purpose District for Manchester Road Being Sought by Wildwood, Ballwin, Ellisville Officials

A new "overlay" governmental district to oversee long-term Manchester Road improvements is a new goal for Wildwood, Ballwin and Ellisville city representatives.

With Manchester Road being targeted as part of the St. Louis Great Streets Initiative, this major thoroughfare needs a major transformation that will take years to complete. To be able to work together for an extended period of time, city staffers, council members and board of aldermen of Wildwood, Ellisville and Ballwin municipalities hope to form a "special purpose" taxing district with the sole purpose of executing improvements to the Manchester Road corridor. Fuzzy's Taco Shop Moving in Off Manchester Road

Fuzzy's Taco Shop is expected to move into its second St. Louis location off Manchester Road in March.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop is set to move in off Manchester Road in West County.  This will be the second St. Louis area location for Fuzzy's Taco Shop, according to Managing Partner Scott Bonner who operates the St. Louis locations.  Bonner tells Patch, the first location opened last year at 8073 Watson Road in Webster Groves.  "We've been in this location since last February and it's a franchise that originated out of Texas," Bonner explained.  (Read Previous Story: Fuzzy's Taco Shop Opens Today in Yorkshire Plaza) The restaurant serves Mexican food with a twist, including burritos, enchilada plates, tamale and and tacos. Water Main Break at Holloway and Manchester Roads

Ballwin Police Department advises to avoid the area through Wednesday morning.

A 12-inch water main break on Holloway Road at Manchester has lanes blocked, according to a release from the Ballwin Police Department Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. Missouri-American Water is on the scene, with the right turn lane from southbound Holloway to westbound Manchester closed. The release said more lanes may close as repairs are made, with work expected to continue through early Wednesday morning. The release advised commuters to avoid the area.

Police Warn Residents Scammers May Be Lurking Along Manchester Road

Police want residents to be on alert and call 911 after a woman was recently approached in a business parking lot along Manchester Road.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester and Town and Country Police Departments. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made.   Police are warning residents to be on alert for scam artists targeting shoppers along Manchester Road. According to the Town and Country and Manchester police departments, a resident was in a retail business parking lot along Manchester Road during the evening when a female in her 20s approached her. A crime alert sent out by both departments stated that the woman claimed she needed gas money to get to her mother's house in Cape Girardeau. She also reportedly told the would-be victim that her boyfriend was after her and that she had to get away quickly. Police stated that this is a …

UPDATE: Victims Identified in Ellisville Fatal Car Wreck

The crash last week involved three victims in two vehicles near a Blockbuster in Ellisville.

The Ellisville Police Department released the names of three victims involved in a two-vehicle crash on Manchester Road Aug. 19. Eric Puronen of Ballwin died a few days after from injuries incurred from the accident. His wife, Victoria, was driving a Toyota sedan when the couple pulled out onto Manchester into the path of a green Chevy pickup truck, as previously reported by Patch. Victoria may still be in the hospital, according to Sgt. Nancy Walker of the Ellisville Police Department. The driver of the Chevy truck is Joshua Jones of House Spring. Update: Man Died Today From Injuries in Sunday's Car Crash on Manchester

The man was the passenger in a car that pulled in the way of a pickup truck Sunday afternoon.

Updated at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday. A man in his 60s was confirmed dead today by a spokesman for the Ellisville Police Department, three days after a crash on Manchester Road Sunday afternoon. Sgt. Nancy Walker said in an email and phone call today that man, described only as a Ballwin man in his 60s, had died. This followed several hour of confusion; Walker had initially reported on Tuesday that he died, but later indicated that he may have been "brain dead" at the time. The man and his wife, both in their 60s, suffered injuries in a car crash Sunday afternoon. He was the passenger in a Toyota sedan that pulled into the path of a westbound pickup truck on Manchester Road, police said. His wife, who was driving, is still hospitalized, …

3 Critically Injured in Two-Car Crash on Manchester Road

A Sunday afternoon wreck involving a pickup truck and a Toyota left two men and a woman in critical condition.

A man and a woman in their 60s and another man in his late 30s are in critical condition today after a Sunday afternoon wreck totaled their cars on Manchester Road just west of Clarkson. The first report of the accident came in at 2:31 p.m. on Sunday, according to Ellisville police spokesman Sgt. Nancy Walker. She said a St. Louis County Police accident reconstruction team was working on a report about the wreck. Basically, she said, a green Chevy pickup truck driven by a man in his 30s was traveling westbound on Manchester Road when a Toyota sedan pulled out of the parking lot at the First Bank at 15965 Manchester Road.
