Exit Closed Westbound I-64 to Long Road for Two Weeks

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis work zones for April 25-May 1.

MoDOT's bridge maintenance crews will be closing the exit ramp from westbound Interstate 64 to Long Road beginning April 29 at 9 a.m. This ramp goes over I-64 as part of the exit ramp. It will be closed for approximately two weeks. To detour around this closure, motorists traveling on westbound I-64 can exit at Spirit Boulevard and take Chesterfield Airport Road to Long Road. The entrance ramp from Long Road to eastbound I-64 will remain open while the bridge work is being completed on the westbound exit ramp. Blasting operations on southbound I-270 near Big Bend is scheduled weekdays at 1 p.m., weather permitting. Both directions of I-270 will have a rolling closure and potential stopped traffic for approximately 15 minutes. Motorists …

There needs to be signs posted at the Eager Rd (left lane for Eager Rd EAST / middle lane Target Promenade & Eager Rd EAST / right lane Eager Rd WEST) at the exit heading South from 170. There are two lanes but everyone exits on the right lane onto Eager and cuts everyone off in the left lane to go EAST on Eager. The signs should be hung along the side of the 40 West overpass. MoDOT: Watch, Slow Down For Spring Road Repairs

Missouri Department of Transportation reports St. Louis work zones for the week of April 15.

Missouri Department of Transportation workers will be busy the next few months with routine and seasonal tasks, such as pavement repairs and crack sealing. Motorists should watch for slow moving or stopped vehicles with flashing lights in traffic lanes on interstates and other busy roadways. MoDOT has scheduled evening closures of ramps on the Poplar Street Bridge next week so crews can complete preventative maintenance on the ramps, weather permitting.  The current schedule for ramp repairs is: Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

MoDOT Names Dave Nichols as New Director

MoDOT says Dave Nichols has served the department for more than 29 years. His appointment comes after Kevin Keith suddenly resigned from the position last month.

As previously reported by Patch, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced a change in leadership with the sudden resignation of MoDOT Director Kevin Keith in March who was taking medical leave immediately. At that time, it was announced that Chief Engineer Dave Nichols would serve as interim director. This week, MoDOT announced Nichols, who has been with the department for more than 29 years, has been selected as the new director. MoDOT released the following details of the change in the following news release. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has selected Dave Nichols to serve as the director of the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT Launches 'Pothole Patrol'; Report Problem Spots Now

MoDOT is committing to repairing most potholes within 24 hours of them being reported. Motorists simply have to call in or email the pothole location.

The Missouri Department of Transportation kicked off its "enhanced pothole repair initiative" this week. MoDOT stated in a news release that the plan is the same as last year where crews will repair a pothole with asphalt within 24 hours of it being reported on a weekday. "MoDOT’s goal is to aggressively tackle potholes to keep highways smooth and safe for St. Louis motorists," the news release stated. Drivers should report potholes by calling 1-888-ASK-MoDOT or online at MoDOT.org.  Don't forget, you can also ask MoDOT your questions online this Friday from noon to 4 p.m., by logging on to your local Patch site. 1.) With the increased traffic on the Daniel Boone Bridge due to lane closures on the Blanchette, why did they decide to do blasting now? It doesn't make sense to have closures on one of the alternate routes. Drivers in the Lake St. Louis/Wentzville area do not have easy access to the Page extension. 2.)
