What Would You Like To Ask Congresswoman-Elect Ann Wagner?

Patch is speaking with the former U.S. Ambassador-turned-U.S. Representative-Elect Thursday afternoon.

In a few weeks, Ann Wagner will be sworn in as the next U.S. Representative for Missouri's 2nd district, following her November victory over Democrat Glenn Koenen. Before she goes to Washington, D.C., she's sitting down with Patch Thursday afternoon. We have a good idea of where to start with questions, but we'd like your input. What would you like to know about what she's been doing since election day, or what her plans are once she's seated? What does she think about the looming "Fiscal Cliff" and other matters. Give us your questions in the comment section and we'll try to get them answered.

Ann, not everyone in your district wants Missouri to be a "Right to Work" state. Evidence shows that this merely destroys middle class wages in a "race to the bottom.   more ›

Ballwin RNC Delegate Shares the Tampa Experience

Amid restaurants and concerts, Chris Howard said a trip highlight so far has been hearing VP candidate Paul Ryan speak.

Republican National Convention delegates from Missouri are keeping a busy schedule while in Tampa, Florida, for the 2012 RNC. In addition to the convention and other official business, they've visited famous restaurants, attended rock concerts and bumped into celebrities.  Chris Howard is a first time delegate from Ballwin, Mo. Since arriving on Sunday, he says he's enjoying his time in Tampa. "We've had so much fun," he said. "My only complaint is that it's more humid than St. Louis." Some delegates dined late on Sunday at Tampa's well-know Bern's Steakhouse, a popular spot for fine dining near the RNC. On Monday night, the group made its way to The Columbia, Florida's oldest restaurant. Howard and his fellow delegates also attended a …

Snap Poll: Paul Ryan As VP Pick Galvanizes Missouri Republicans

Ryan's budget plans don't give the Obama campaign an opening with voters according to GOP activists.

Nearly 91 percent of influential Missouri Republicans who responded to an unscientific Patch poll Saturday said Mitt Romney's selection of Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to be his Vice-Presidential running mate on the presumptive ticket in November would "galvanize" Republicans in Missouri. Patch asked more than 60 Republicans to weigh in on the choice and received 22 responses. Participants praised Ryan's his knowledge on fiscal matters and the ability to articulate a way forward. Ryan, Chairman of the House Budget Committee, has pushed a budget plan that proposes large changes to Medicare, Medicaid and tax rates. "Ryan brings good conservative credentials to the ticket for those who had doubts about Romney. He's a strong voice for …

Influential Democrats Confident 'Religious Liberty Bill' Veto Can Survive Potential Veto Session

Governor Jay Nixon's decision to veto legislation backed by the Catholic Church has spurred talk of a potential override attempt in September.

Despite a Republican majority in both the Missouri General Assembly and the State Senate, influential Democrats say they believe Governor Jay Nixon's veto of Senate Bill 749 would survive a potential override attempt in September. That's one of several findings of the inaugural Blue Arch survey conducted by Missouri Patch sites.  More than 50 influential Democrats, primarily from the St. Louis area, but not exclusively, were asked using an automated survey tool what they thought about a variety of questions tied to the Governor's action on the bill, which would in part, allow health care providers, and health care sponsors, among others to decline or refuse  "coverage for, abortion, contraception, or sterilization in a health plan if such …
