Ornaments for Officers, a local fundraiser is selling new and gently used ornaments, and the proceeds go soley to Backstoppers, which helps the families of police and firefighters who are killed or injured in the line of duty. The goal is to raise $60,000, according to the charity's local website. Ornaments donated to Ornaments for Officers will be displayed at a number of participating retailers, more than 300, until Christmas. This year, the Ellisville Police Department is offering up a new (and helpful) way to deck the tree this Christmas season. The police department is selling policeman and fireman Santa Claus glass ornaments for $9 each through Ornaments for Officers. All the proceeds will go toward Backstoppers, a local organization that benefits families of first responders killed in the line of duty. Along with each ornament comes a sampling of coupons from St. Louis businesses, including Great Clips, Midas and Krispy Kreme, according to the Ornaments for Officers website.
