Parkway Superintendent Contract Up for Extension

The extension is one of the items on the agenda for tonight's meeting of the Parkway School Board.

Incumbents Keep Parkway School Board Seats

Incumbents Sam Sciortino and Tom Appelbaum kept their Parkway School Board seats in the April 2 election.

UPDATED 12:50 p.m., Wed., April 3- Voters decided Tuesday that incumbent Parkway School Board members Sam Sciortino and Tom Appelbaum should keep their positions. Voters selected two of the eight candidates running for the open seats in the Parkway School Board election. Board members serve three-year terms. Sciortino received the most votes, with 5,049 votes, or 21.26 percent. Appelbaum garnered 3,596 votes, or 15.14 percent. School board candidate Jenifer Clifton wasn't far behind with 3,338 votes, or 14.05 percent, but there were only two open seats. Parkway Candidates Explain What They Would Do If Elected

Prepare yourself for the April 2 election by reading Patch's rundowns on each of the candidates, including their answers to your questions.

With the April 2 election day drawing near, Patch wants to make sure voters are able to make informed choices about the candidates vying for a seat on the Parkway School Board by providing their answers to a questionnaire sent out earlier this month.  Eight candidates are running for one of two "at-large" spots on the Parkway School District Board of Education. Gun Shy: Little Support for Armed Teachers Among Parkway Candidates

School security was one of the many topics discussed during a forum for Parkway School Board candidates held by the League of Women Voters Monday.

The eight candidates vying for two spots on the Parkway School Board discussed issues surrounding budgets, teachers, safety, sports and test scores at a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters Monday night. Held at Parkway South Middle School, the forum lasted two hours as the candidates fielded questions proposed by the in-person audience and one watching via a live video stream on the district’s website. Patch has provided a summary their responses to a few of the many questions answered by the candidates in order to give voters a sense of where they stand on some important educational issues. Parkway Candidate Forum Monday At Parkway South Middle School

Eight candidates are vying for two seats on the Parkway Board of Education in next month's election.

Parkway School district voters interested in learning more about the field of eight candidates up for election to two slots on the district's board of education can do so at a Monday night forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters. The event starts at 7 p.m. at Parkway South Middle School. For those unable to attend the forum in person, the district will be streaming it live on their website. Viewers will also be able to submit their own questions to the candidates via an online chat.  The candidates are: Patch has reached out to each of the campaigns with a set of questions, including those posed by Patch readers. We'll share those responses with you in time to help you make an informed decision at the polls April 2.
