PHOTOS: Parkway South Class of 2012 Graduates

Thousands gathered at Queeny Park's auditorium to see the students of the Parkway South High School's Class of 2012 receive their diploma.

For the Parkway South High School Class of 2012, school is finally over.  Friday night, 470 students received their diploma at the school's graduation ceremony, held at Queeny Park's auditorium.  Approximately 3,000 people gathered there to see the students, who achieved several academic successes.  (Be sure to follow Patch on Facebook - check out our page and "Like" it here.) For the class of 2012, there was a total of $11 million in scholarships awarded to students.  Salutatorian for the 2012 class was Heather Dawn Wilson, who had a grade point average of 4.65 cumulative. Emily Shannon Cheng, the valedictorian, had a GPA of 4.821. This year's graduation ceremony was the last one for Parkway South Principal Gary Mazzola, who is retiring …

Artists Craft a Beautiful Show in Queeny Park

139 artists exhibited fine arts and crafts this weekend at the 36th annual Queeny Park Art Fair.

This weekend, the 36th annual Queeny Park Art Fair is hosting 139 booths of artists working in printing, photography, drawing, wood, fiber, clay, glass, paint, and more. Artists from the St. Louis area and beyond showcased and sold fine arts and crafts to patrons from the comfort of the Greensfelder Recreation Center. The event runs until 4 p.m. Sunday. St. Louis Philharmonic Fundraiser Brings Pops To Queeny Park

One of two fundraising concerts per year, the summer Pops concert by the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra featured a selection of audience requests and a John Williams medley.

The St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra brought a perfect evening of popular classical music to the Greensfelder Recreation Center at Queeny Park by Ballwin on Friday. For the majority of the last 30 years, the Philharmonic has hosted the event at Queeny Park, which helps the all-volunteer group raise money in order to continue providing free classical music to the St. Louis area. "For many arts organizations in this present climate, it's difficult to accomplish funding goals because the money available for the arts is being spread more thinly," said Robin Weatherall, who is the timpanist and principal percussionist with the Philharmonic. This makes the Pops concerts that much more important with theme's such as Friday's "by request" marquee …

Parkway South's Class of 2011 Graduates

Parkway South seniors said goodbye to high school Friday night during the their graduation ceremony at Queeny Park.

It may have been Friday 13th, but it was a lucky Friday for the Parkway South High School graduating class of 2011. In spite of some strong winds, the cold weather and rain did not hit the event, which was held at Queeny Park. Parkway South Principal Gary Mazzola told the audience of the many accomplishments of the graduating class, including earning nearly $11 million in total scholarships. Nearly 2,000 students graduated Friday. The Valedictorian is Mona Dai and the Salutatorian is Meghan Scanlon. Student Clinton Cannon gave the commencement address, telling his fellow classmates that the best part of their lives was just about to begin.
