Letter to the Editor: Affordable and Accessible Healthcare: Why We Need a Physician in Congress

Dr. Christopher Carpenter explains why Dr. Randy Jotte is his choice for Missouri’s 2nd congressional district.

Two weeks ago, the Supreme Court rendered a decision in support of the Affordable Care Act, but to secure reliably accessible, high quality healthcare for all citizens, the devil is in the details.  Fortunately, St. Louis voters from U.S. House Missouri District 2 have the unique opportunity to shape the future of American healthcare this election season. How?  Dr. Randy Jotte, a St. Louis native and Emergency Physician is running for the congressional seat on a bipartisan platform of constructive and pragmatic healthcare reform. Dr. Jotte’s perspectives and ideas are a reflection of his lifetime commitment to vulnerable patients in the constant challenge that is emergency medicine (www.randyjotte.com).  One needs to walk a mile in another…

Jotte Challenges Ballwin's Ann Wagner to 'Lincoln-Douglas' Debates

In a written response, Wagner's campaign stopped short of declining the invite.

Congressional candidate Dr. Randy Jotte challenged Ann Wagner of Ballwin to a series of debates framed after the historical encounters of Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Senate incumbent Stephen A. Douglas. Jotte, who resides in Webster Groves and works at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, said in an email that the series of six debates would allow the candidates to "present ourselves before the people in a straight-forward fashion.” Jotte said three of the six debates should focus on reducing the national deficit, the economy and health care reform. “These topics certainly are on the minds of the public,” Jotte said. A representative for Ann Wagner, who Jotte will face in the Republican primaries for the 2nd Congressional District on August 7, responded …

Jotte Takes Shot at Ballwin's Ann Wagner, Labeling as 'Establishment's' Pick

Does Wagner's new video with former Gov. Mike Huckabee reaffirm Jotte's assertion that she's part of the 'status quo'?

A week after Congressional primary candidate Dr. Randy Jotte painted Ann Wagner as the "establishment's designee" for Missouri's 2nd District, the campaign for the Ballwin Republican released a campaign video highlighting Wagner's endorsement by the high profile former governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. In an email to supporters and media outlets, Jotte, who resides in Webster Groves, said last week he officially filed as a candidate and cited a desire to reduce the national debt and cut down expenses associated with health care. Jotte works as an emergency room physician at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Jotte said Republicans in power are responsible for a gridlock preventing solutions to health care reform, and identified …

Jotte: Wagner Camp Forgets Primary Opponent

In a recent email to lobbyists, a fundraising worker for Ann Wagner incorrectly stated that the Ballwin resident doesn't have an opponent on the ballot in the Republican primaries this summer, Randy Jotte said Monday.

According to her primary opponent, Randy Jotte, it seems Ann Wagner's campaign forgot she has an opponent in the primary — an oversight the campaign acknowledged, blaming a fundraising worker in Washington, DC. Jotte forwarded Patch a Feb. 8 email from one of Wagner's campaign team members regarding Wagner's upcoming visit to Washington, D.C. The email reads in part: I wanted to see if you are available to help Ann Wagner out on her next trip to DC – we have a few events as well as 1-1 coffee times available. Her primary opponent got out of the race last month and along with her excellent fundraising numbers from last quarter has put Ann in a great spot to win this seat for MO-02. She has over $1 million cash on hand and has raised $1.365 …

My question exactly Marty. This is not the first time this campaign has told donors that she had not opposition. Christie's office said they didn't know there was a GOP opponent when he endorsed her. They were told no viable primary opponent. Same with Susan B Anthony List. And this person that put out the email OFFERED that info. She wasn't even asked for it. Best a congresswoman know what her …   more ›

Huckabee, Wagner Woo Supporters

The former presidential candidate said Congressional-hopeful Ann Wagner of Ballwin comes from "a family that has lived the values we talk about."

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee tapped core conservative issues in his endorsement of Congressional candidate and Ballwin resident Ann Wagner on Thursday, rallying supporters in advance of Republican primaries in August. In a speech that touched on issues ranging from the cost of gasoline to the curricula of public schools, Huckabee praised Wagner’s political and personal life. “This is a family that has lived the values we talk about,” Huckabee said. “If you can manage a household, if you can manage a small business, if you can serve in capacities as she has … you have a really good understanding of the full-scope of America.” Huckabee said the endorsement was likely to be one of less than a dozen Congressional races nationwide that the former …
