Election Results: Todd Akin Concedes to Claire McCaskill in Missouri Senate Race

Sen. Claire McCaskill is the projected winner of the U.S. Senate race in Missouri, defeating Republican challenger Rep. Todd Akin.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) has defeated Republican challenger Todd Akin in the U.S. Senate race in Missouri.  With 55 percent of the precincts counted on the Missouri Secretary of State's website, unofficial results show McCaskill currently winning by more than 138,000 votes as of 10:10 p.m. Ballots are still being counted in Missouri. McCaskill delivered her victory speech to a cheering crowd of supporters at the Chase Park Plaza at 10 p.m. "With a stubborn determination, tenacity and refusal to give up, we showed the country what Missouri is made of," McCaskill said. More Ads and Accusations as McCaskill and Akin Battle For The Senate

Both campaigns are in full swing as Nov. 6 approaches. Sen. Claire McCaskill remains in St. Louis with her critically ill mother.

With only 12 days to go before Election Day, the campaigns of Sen. Claire McCaskill and Rep. Todd Akin continue to duke it out for Missouri's U.S. Senate seat. Today, McCaskill's campaign released three new ads highlighting the difference between the two candidates on Medicare, minimum wage and the middle class. To view the ads, click on the links below.  Meanwhile, Akin's camp released a statement blasting McCaskill for focusing on alcohol abuse and bar brawls in Afghanistan instead of investigating the death of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya. Todd Akin Releases Apology, Asks Forgiveness

The candidate for Missouri Senate issues ad Monday.

Rep. Todd Akin, a Republican who is seeking to unseat Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in November, issued an apology ad. The ad was first reported by Politico early Tuesday.  The apology comes on the heels of comments he made Sunday on Fox2 about "legitimate rape." The backlash over the comments went viral Monday, with the story heading up national news broadcasts and leading national Republican groups to withdraw support. President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney both condemned Akin's comments. The L.A. Times reports that conservative super PAC Crossroads GPS, founded by former Karl Rove, is pulling its ads from the Missouri Senate race. Todd Akin needs to quit politics and leave it to people that are honest. I have nothing good to say about him and his so called apology..
