New Thrift Store Opens in Ballwin, Benefits Disabled American Veterans

Red Racks quietly opened on Halloween and has a preview event today with its grand opening on Friday.

A new thrift store has opened in Ballwin, joining the list with two others in the nearby vicinity. Red Racks, a store owned and operated by the Disabled American Veterans, opened on Halloween in the former location location of a Sears hardware store at 15425 Manchester Road. The store stocks everything from shoes and clothes to furniture, kitchenware and electronics. The merchandise is all donated. Sales cover the cost of doing business, and proceeds beyond that go to the Disabled American Veterans. Added bonus: Because the purchases are for charity, buyers pay no sales tax. I LOVED this store when it opened! I went in a couple of days ago and it was WAY to overpriced. I was looking for a garden bench and there was one but the wood would have to be replaced so all you were really paying for was the arms then I found two patio chairs that matched my set but they wanted 17.00 for each of them. I didnt even pay that for them new.   more ›

I had extra time in STL last week. (I do not live in STL). I am a curious person. I had never noticed this before. I went in. I was amazed at how clean and well arranged it was. I bought a couple of pictures and was pleased. Thank you for having an area where we can donate items to others and know that it will be displayed and kept in an orderly manner. I will bring my unneeded items here when …   more ›
