Ballwin's Tide Dry Cleaners Reportedly Turning The Tide on Local Businesses

Tide Dry Cleaners opened in December. However, some small business owners are concerned about Procter & Gamble trying to clean up their customers, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

As previously reported by Patch, real estate developer Brian Bruce and his father, Bill Bruce, opened their first dry cleaning shop at 14434 Clayton Road in Ballwin on Dec. 8.  The store, Tide Dry Cleaning, is reportedly a franchise of Procter & Gamble. As reported by the St. Louis Business Journal, Brian Bruce is set to spend $5 million to launch a total of eight dry cleaning stores in the St. Louis area. The Ballwin location, on Clayton Road, just west of Woods Mill Road, is the first. Now, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Procter & Gamble's push into the St. Louis area dry cleaning market has mom-and-pop operators worried they may be forced out of business. …

Vietnam Vet and Woman Who Helps Veterans Awarded a Car

The O'Fallon brother and sister were honored for their work with veterans by Ballwin's Tide Dry Cleaners and the Cars4Heroes organization in Kansas City.

Sandy Brackman and her brother Cecil Warren thought they were coming to Ballwin from their O'Fallon home to award a car to a deserving military veteran. What they didn't know was they were the ones who would get the car. With the passing of a set of keys to the 1999 Saturn SC, Brackman clasped her hands over her mouth and let the tears flow. "You don't know how much this means to me," she said later, after she'd composed herself. "I don't usually stutter like this." New Business In Ballwin Set to Give Away a Car to a Veteran

Tide Cleaners in Ballwin is working with Cars 4 Heroes to participate in the giveaway at 1 p.m. today.

One of the newest businesses in Ballwin, Tide Dry Cleaners, is collaborating with the Cars 4 Heroes organization to give a car away to a local U.S. veteran. The clothes cleaner is the first of the Tide franchise to open in the St. Louis area and opened several weeks ago in the Ballwin Grove shopping center at 14434 Clayton Road. Cars 4 Heroes is a Missouri nonprofit that provides free transportation to active-duty military families and veterans. According to a statement from the organization, "we give over 300 cars away each year throughout the midwest and are increasing our presence in the St. Louis-area."
