Ellisville Hits Last Wave of Town Halls
Mayor Matt Pirrello, city staff close in on discussions about a projected shortfall in next year's budget.
Ellisville city officials will host the city's sixth town hall meeting Wednesday evening as the mayor, residents and city staff discuss several proposals aimed at decreasing city costs. Specifically, the town halls have centered around reducing a projected shortfall of $600,000 or more for next year's budget of just under $9 million in order to prevent tapping reserve funds to cover that balance. Suggested actions have included reducing city services, selling bonds or other public assets, permitting for a possible "big box" store and proposing a city sales tax.
