The city of Ballwin's Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on the request next month.
Wendy's has been open since January. Work is beginning that will bring a U-Gas Convenience Store, gas station and car wash to the neighboring plat at what was formerly Rothman Furniture. What's next for the site? Possibly, an indoor gun range. The city of Ballwin's Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing June 3 to hear the request of Hindo, L.L.C. to allow for indoor shooting ranges as an allowed use under special exemptions. The convenience store will be located next to the new Wendy's on Manchester Road.
According to a company executive, work to build the U-Gas convenience store and gas station along Manchester Road on the former Rothman Furniture site should begin this week. Perry Cheatham, the Chief Operations Officer for U-Gas told Patch that the company has plans for a 3 month construction schedule, which would put an opening near Labor Day in September if the weather holds up. The roughly 4200 square foot facility would be the sixth locally to be done in the company's latest "concept", which includes gas, a full grocery, wine/beer offering, coffees and an automated car wash. The new Wendy's location in Ballwin will officially open Jan. 15.
Wendy's will open to the public in Ballwin Jan. 15 at 10 a.m., after hosting Ballwin Elementary students for a special grand opening Monday. Selected 5th grade students from the elementary school who made outstanding academic achievements will be treated to a free meal at the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Jan. 14, according to a press release from the restaurant. Faculty, staff and the students' families are also invited. Wendy's confirmed a grand opening date for Jan. 14, 2013.
After original plans to open prior to the end of 2012, Wendy's confirmed with Patch that the new Ballwin location will open Jan. 15, 2013, with a grand opening celebration Jan. 14. Patch previously reported from the site developer and Ballwin city officials that the restaurant's target opening date was this week. More than a dozen workers were hard at work in and around the new hamburger restaurant this week. The new restaurant is located at Manchester Road and Seven Trails Drive—formerly Rothman Furniture.
The shape of a new Wendy's restaurant is apparent now, as construction buzzes around the building, situated at the top of the hill at Manchester Road and Seven Trails Drive, the former site of a Rothman Furniture store. "They have not set an official date yet but they are hoping to open it by year end," said Ballwin Mayor Tim Pogue. "It will be close. I have spoken with many residents and there is a lot of excitement over this new business to Ballwin."
