Traffic Stop and Bail Money Leads to Drug Charge for Ballwin Man
A Ballwin officer allowed the man to get bail money from his apartment, where the officer smelled marijuana.
A Ballwin man who wanted to get bail money for some outstanding warrants now is being charged with dealing in drugs. Ballwin Police said the officer stopped Samuel Gaines, 24, on a traffic stop on Feb. 24 and discovered he had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The officer agreed to take let Gaines go to his apartment in the 100 block of Old Ballwin Road in Ballwin to retrieve bond money. Upon arrival at Gaines’ apartment, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The officer said after receiving a verbal consent for a search, he found hashish, marijuana and amphetamines in the apartment.
